September 24, 1981—I entered into an agreement with Golden Eagle Enterprises, Inc., the exclusive agent for Paul W. "Bear" Bryant, wherein Golden Eagle commissioned me to commemorate Bryant's 315th career win.  It was at this time that UA began providing me with sideline and press box media passes—usually two of each, for each home game. The practice continued over the following 21 years, with UA knowing full well that I was using them to obtain photo references for my paintings—the vast majority of which were not licensed.   In fact, UA's issuance of the Media Passes to me was ongoing for almost ten years before I licensed my first print with UA in 1991.  Knowing that UA may have decided not to issue the media passes to me, I logically construed that to mean I had a "green light" to proceed and that UA appreciated my activities.  This was one of the things that encouraged me to continue my artistic efforts.

From 1979 to this date, The University of Alabama has not sent me formal notification to "cease and desist" in publishing my Fine Art Prints depicting Alabama Athletics.  However, in 2002,there was a verbal discussion between the two parties that showed they disagreed as to what is—and what is not—"licensable."
